Sneak Peek: 2011 Infiniti M

his is the best rendition of Infiniti's third-generation M sedan we have thus far and safe to say, it's doing its job quite well in whetting our appetites.

If you haven't heard, Nissan's luxury brand will debut its latest model at next week's 59th Pebble Beach Concours in Northern California by way of a 3D exhibition, not an actual production car.

The above rendering shows a rather highly raked and sleek coupe-like side profile.

Hot News: Toyota-Subaru Sport Car on Fast Track

Toyota Motor Corporation's new president, Akio Toyoda, wants the brand his grandfather launched to add flavor and passion to its high-quality road appliances. And so, the Toyota scion who drove a Lexus LF-A to fourth-place in its class at the 24 Hours of Nurburgring spoke about a long-awaited "affordable sports car" at the Center for Automotive Research (CAR) Conference here Wednesday.

"I am happy to announce this morning that Toyota plans to build an exciting, fun-to-drive, affordable sports car and launch it within the next few years. I am very excited about it, and I plan to fast-track it," he said.
Meanwhile, Jim Lentz, president of Toyota's U.S. sales, confirmed that the coupe is the Toyota-Subaru joint-venture that has been in the news for a couple of years now. With Volkswagen having confirmed its BlueSport mid-engine Miata-fighter for production, will Toyota venture back into MR2/MR Spyder territory? Or does Toyoda consider a new-age Supra "affordable?"

As we reported here last month, the production version of the Lexus LF-A - not an "affordable" model -- will launch at the Tokyo Motor Show in late October and go on-sale in very small numbers by the middle of 2010.

We expect to find out more about the affordable sports car soon. Meanwhile, Toyoda also confirmed a plug-in version of the Toyota Prius hybrid before the end of the year, and a pure electric vehicle (probably based on the IQ) by 2012. "We're also making great progress on hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and hope to make this technology available and affordable for customers within the next half-dozen years," Toyoda said.

A Tribute to Philippine's Yellow Fashion Icon (Pres. Cory Aquino)

Yesterday, Pres. Cory Aquino was laid to her final rest. She was an icon of democracy here in the Philippines. She was also the first female President of the Philippines as well as the first female President in the whole Asia.

During the 1980's, Cory Aquino was associated with the yellow color. This color was used to fight against the dictator of the country during that time. Yellow became a symbol of revolution for all Filipinos. At the time of her death, people used this color (again) to show their gratefulness for all the things that she have sacrificed for the country.

Hot News: BMW to Create New Sub-Brand

BMW has confirmed it will create a new sub-brand to sell its most environmentally friendly vehicles under.

The brand will operate in a similar way to BMW's "M" label for its high-performance cars, according to company chief Norbert Reithofer.

A BMW statement said: "The Board has now decided: This auto will be launched on the market as a sub-brand of BMW. As BMW is the innovation driver within the Group, the decision for a sub brand under BMW is the most logical step. Details on this topic will be made known later this year."

Speculation has suggested BMW will opt for either 'E'or 'EV' for the name of its sub-brand.

However, the 'Metro' name still belongs to BMW and has been closely guarded in recent years - it is believed BMW requested Audi drop the Metro name it used to launch its Audi A1 Metroproject concept car in 2007.

Full details are expected to be announced at this September's Frankfurt motor show.

In a separate statement BMW also announced an agreement with SB LiMotive, which is jointly owned by Samsung SDI and Bosch, for the supply of lithium-ion battery packs.

These will be used as part of BMW’s electric Megacity car project, which is also expected to fall under the new sub-brand.

BMW already has the electric Mini E under development as part of its portfolio.

New Concept Car: Mazda MX-5 Superlight

It's back to basics for sportscar legend Mazda - the Japanese firm will premiere a super-light version of its best selling MX-5 sports car at next month’s Frankfurt Motor Show.

Dubbed the Mazda MX-5 Superlight, the concept celebrates 20 years of success with an open-topped, no-frills design focusing on affordable driving fun.

Created by Mazda’s studio in Oberursel, Germany, the two-seat roadster has been pared back to the bare essentials.

As these official Mazda pictures demonstrate, the Superlight concept is a roofless speedster offering only minimal protection from the elements. The cabin is a race inspired affair in keeping with the radical exterior.

A spiritual successor to the dramatic RenaultSport Spyder, Mazda claims that the Superlight concept takes the lightweight nature of the MX-5 to a whole new level, so expect extensive use of exotic materials amongst other weight saving measures.

Engine output has not been revealed, however the radical weight loss alone would make faster than your regular MX-5. Options open to engineers include the turbocharged 2.3-litre unit that offers up to 260bhp in the Mazda 3 MPS

In addition to the performance benefits of lightweight construction, Mazda is keen to stress the fuel saving and emission reductions possible with a lighter vehicle. For more details click here.
